Archie Roach is an extraordinary storyteller, writer, singer and powerful voice for Indigenous social justice. During the course of taking pictures for his album, Journey, I was privileged to get to know him a little and learn why he's the elder statesman of Australian indigenous music - a most rewarding experience.
Archie is a Gunditjmara Bundjalung man. This award is recognition for his, “significant service to the performing arts as a singer, song-writer and musician, and to the community as a spokesman for social justice”.
I salute you, Archie and your recognition in the 2015 Queen's Birthday Honours.
